Owen Bourne is among the most prolific and distinctive voice in new British music.
He was handpicked to be the first ever Resident Student Composer with the National
Youth Orchestra of Great Britain aged only 16 and has gone on to produce a large body
of substantial works played by major ensembles and soloists in the UK and abroad.
His music has since been performed at major festivals such as the Bath International
Festival, the Cheltenham Music Festival, the International Grassington Festival and the
Spitalfields Festival.
He has received commissions from groups such as the BBC Singers,
the Southbank Sinfonia, the EMFEB Orchestra, the Welsh
College of Music and Drama, the Festival of Youth Arts, the Goldberg Ensemble and the
London Sinfonietta. He has written over 100 works including major concertos for leading
instrumentalists, numerous orchestral works, an Opera and a host of chamber music
including sets of piano sonatas and string Quartets. He is Creative Director and Chair in Composition with
the dynamic EMFEB Symphony Orchestra which he co-founded, and is also Head of Music at Stoke Newington School in North London.
